The schedule honesty
Rail operations don't keep office hours, and irregular or on-call schedules reward living close in a way a 9-to-5 never does — a 12-minute drive you can make at any hour beats a 35-minute drive that's 20 minutes at 3am and 50 at 5pm. If your role involves callouts, weight proximity heavier than the general advice on this site suggests, and test the drive at the worst hour your schedule can produce, not the best.

Proximity to an intermodal facility means proximity to an intermodal facility: rail movement, truck volume on connector roads, and industrial neighbors are part of the deal at the closest addresses.
